One of the nice things about vacation is - for the most part - you get to set your own rules. The chedule and destination? It's up to you.
And that's why in the middle of our vacation, we found ourselves back home, so that AJ could play in and Jeff could coach the last baseball game of the season.
It was a hot one. Upper 80s for temperature if I remember correctly. One player had to sit out the last two innings due to the heat. Despite all that, AJ happily volunteered to put on extra gear and play catcher.
The next inning, he moved to the outfield. In the developmental league, the kids move around a lot so everyone can develop skills in a variety of positions.
Of course one of the highlight for him was making it to base every time at bat. Even more exciting, he was followed by Chad in the batting line up. Chad is legendary for his batting skills, hitting a homerun, followed by a triple, so AJ got to do a lot of base running.
And then he finished the game, and the season, in his favorite spot as catcher.
It's tough to see the season end when the kids (and a certain coach) were having so much fun. But now it's on to the next sports. Earlier this week, AJ skated in a three day hockey camp, plus his soccer season started.
