Lego learning

Children learn through play - that's a well known fact. But parents do, too. I learned a little more about Sydney and her view points last night while playing "Lego Girls" with her.

For instance, inter-racial dating is not an issue for my open-minded five-year-old. Prince Charming, who has a wealth of experience as the token guy for her Disney Princesses, has now moved on to the shorter Lego girls. And with five girls to choose from, he's dating "Andrea", (the African-American girl).

Watching a movie with friends. What a perfect date!

Hmmm... but this also means she has no problem with younger girls dating older guys. Yikes! Though the way she figures it, I learned, the Lego girls are eight, and Prince Charming is 13, so there's not quite such an age gap. And at 13, in Sydney's world of make believe, that's old enough to drive. As "the date" continued, Prince Charming offered to drive all of the girls in his humvee. (I love how AJ's old toys have found new life.)

On a reassuring note, once everyone was in the car, Sydney, as Prince Charming, called to all the Lego Girls, "Is everyone buckled?"
