Girl meets boy

I got a message from a friend last week. Her son, Jace, has been buddies with AJ since they were toddlers. They go to the same daycare, played hockey together and now are on the same baseball team.

If it's possible for a child who's not even three to develop a crush, Sydney has a big time infatuation with Jace. Ask her what she did at school, and the first part of her answer always is whether or not Jace was there.

The message from Jace's mom (via Facebook) was this: "Hi Dana, Jace told me today that Sydney told him she was going to marry him - but he's not sure since AJ is his friend. Such dilemmas!!!"

So I asked Sydney if she'd told Jace she was going to marry him. She actually got a shy and sheepish grin on her face as she coyly answered, "Yeah."

I told her she needed to learn to play hard to get, to which she responded, "Jace is COOL!"

It seems to me that I should not have to deal with this kind of drama quite yet. At least not until we're done with potty training.
