Oh, Mother Nature, I've run out of things to say. Here we are at the end of April, shoveling out from our third major snowfall in the last two weeks. This latest bout was gorgeous, but such a waste of effort. Coming this late beyond when it should, it's really, really difficult to appreciate the beauty of it.
It was announced on this morning's news that April 2013 is now officially the snowiest month ever for our area. Again, not a record I needed to live through.
Even Gus is growing tired of it. He's started peeing on the back step rather than venture through the deep snow into our back yard. Unless, of course, I throw him a snowball and say fetch. He falls for that one. Every. Time.
And then comes back and wants to do it again.
I played with him a bit outside last night. The photo below was taken at 7:30 p.m. How can there be this much snow when the days are so long?
And again this morning, the scene is breathtaking, but too much, too late.
Alas, spring truly is in the air. I heard our sump pump turn on this morning. And that can only mean snow is melting. And the forecast for the weekend is simply too exciting to believe. My conversation with AJ this morning:
Me: It's supposed to hit 66 on Sunday.
AJ: 66 degrees?
Yes, 66 lovely degrees. We need this hopeful forecast. It's been a month since we saw temps like that while on vacation, and more than six months since we saw it here. Oh, yes, Mother Nature, timing is everything, and it's well past time for the snow to go away.
