Better than fish

Fresh off his fishing success, AJ was eager to visit the aquarium to look at walleyes and bass. Until he spotted something much bigger swimming amongst the fish.

Whoever this guy is, he sure knows how to play to the preschool crowd. Once he noticed AJ was watching him, he waved and even swam over to put his enormous gloved hand up against the glass so that AJ could do the same. (That's what they're doing in the above shot.)

Our timing was awesome. The two SCUBA divers were not only feeding the fish, they also were cleaning the tanks, which meant they were in the water pretty much the entire time we were there.

Sydney has reached the stage of being terrified of the divers, so she happily spent her time playing with boats and getting soaked at the water table.

It was a bit of a challenge keeping tabs on two kids who wanted to run in opposite directions. I thought I was being smart taking them to the Aquarium last Friday, before the tourist rush starts. But as a former colleague said when she saw us walk in, "You're here on the last Friday of the school year for field trips? Silly, silly Dana."

I guess our timing wasn't so good after all.
