Best seats in the house

Sometimes you get lucky. That certainly describes our first experience with the Cloquet fireworks.

Here's what we knew:
  • The fireworks were going to be shot off somewhere over the river.
  • We didn't want to sit with the main crowd because we didn't want to deal with traffic.
  • The mosquitoes are horrible right near the river.
So we picked a spot on the opposite side of the river from the main crowds, near the bridge going over the river, so we were at a slightly higher elevation. It was awesome! A couple of times it felt like the fireworks just might come raining down on us. The view was that good.

AJ loved the fireworks and proceeded to provide commentary to everyone within hearing range. Sydney was not so impressed. It wasn't the sound, but the brightness that seemed to scare her. She snuggled against Jeff's or my chest the entire time and refused to look at them.

On the way home, which was a short ride because we succeeded in avoiding the traffic, Sydney apparently felt the need to save face, parroting what her brother had been saying earlier, "Woooowwww! That cool!"
