Field trip

The school year ends this week, which apparently called for an end of the year field trip to the zoo yesterday. The big day happened to be one of Jeff's days off, so Jeff volunteered to chaperon.

But then something unexpected happened. The field trip started... at the Children's Museum. And then they went to Playfront Park. Jeff never did figure out how we missed those additions to the agenda, but the kids sure had fun. Finally, they made it to the zoo.

A lot of parents volunteered to help, which meant each one was only responsible for 2-3 kids. Jeff was put in charge of watching AJ and his friend Owen (whose dad works with Jeff.) When AJ recapped his day, feeding the pygmy goats was the highlight.

The weather was perfect, and throughout the day Jeff emailed me photos at work, so I could see the fun I was missing. Gee, thanks, dear!

The low point for AJ came on the bus ride home back to school. While screwing around with Owen, AJ managed to get knocked into a metal piece on the side of the bus and put a nice dent in the side of his head. Of course all his friends had to gasp and point out to him just how much it was bleeding, which only made AJ cry harder. He's fine except for a small scab, which he wants us to frequently check so we can tell him when it's better.

Aside from that, Jeff said it was a fun day. Though he concluded that kindergarten teachers are definitely underpaid.
