Sandbox queen

When we first built our sandbox a few years ago, I imagined it'd be the site of numerous army battles and road construction projects. As it turns out, it's gotten far more use as a prep kitchen and beach.

Sydney has always loved the sandbox, and spends far more time than her brother in it, scooping and building and creating. Sand cupcakes are a favorite, as is anything she can stir in her big pot.

Last Friday, she turned her attention to building a sand castle. I suspect she was trying to build a new home for Sleeping Beauty and Prince Charming, because she propped her small figurines up against a bucket so they could see her progress. Unfortunately for them, Sydney's version of building a sand castle is very different from the traditional definition. In her mind, filling a bucket with sand counts as building a sand castle.

Her lengthy attention span gave me plenty of time to clean out the many weeds that have invaded the space this spring. Sydney casually looked over at what I was doing and affirmed, "Those don't go here."
