Soccer Champ

The kids had been looking forward to this past Sunday for weeks. It was the day their cousin Jessica was coming to Duluth for a soccer game against UMD.

Waving to Jessica when she finally got a water break.

Jessica and her team were a little disappointed by the final score (they lost 4-2), but my kids couldn't have been more thrilled by the chance to cheer for her.

And then by wonderful coincidence, Chad (from AJ's baseball team) and Ceci (Sydney's friend from kindergarten) showed up, as well. And then Champ the Bulldog walked by. And just when they thought it couldn't get any better, some more cousins showed up. AJ and Sydney were very happy to introduce Zane to their good buddy Champ.

Shhh! Don't tell Champ we were rooting for Concordia.

Finn wanted nothing to do with the mascot, which was totally understandable considering it's only been the last year that Sydney would get close to him. After the game, Finn found other ways to have fun - running around the track with AJ giving chase.

I asked Zane if he wanted to get in the picture with my kids and Jessica. He answered, "No. I too tired."

When Jessica finished treating her legs (note the ice bags taped to her shins), the kids were at last able to give her a hug.
